Segments

Lengths are in drawing units. A pattern must start with a dash or dot, and AutoCAD allows at most 12 dash/dot/gap descriptors per linetype. Text and shape elements take no length of their own — follow them with a gap wide enough to hold them.

Using Linetype Desk

Load samples, open a LIN, or create a New linetype.
Select a definition and edit its segments. The previews repeat the current pattern.
Export downloads LIN alone for simple definitions, or a ZIP with referenced loaded shape libraries.

Custom symbols

Five original AA shapes are ready immediately. Shape files lets you import your own SHX or draw a custom symbol. Autodesk's ltypeshp.shx is an external dependency and is never bundled.

Save and resume

The library and loaded shape files stay in memory; export before reloading or leaving. Save overwrites the opened LIN only when the browser supports file access. Otherwise, use Export. Shape-file writes are separate. Downloads do not acknowledge changes to the original opened file. Import merges; Open replaces after confirmation.

AutoCAD

Extract exports to a dedicated folder and add it to AutoCAD's Support File Search Path. Text styles must exist in the drawing. Inspect native geometry before using a definition in a deliverable.

Preview limits

Text uses a generic font. Repetition previews approximate AutoCAD alignment. The original BAT sample is a diamond rather than an insulation glyph.

What stays here / what leaves

Your files are processed in this browser. Imports do not upload them. Save and Export write local files or start downloads. Cookieless page-view analytics go to Cloudflare and do not include file contents or names. Report bug opens the site's report form; only submitting that form sends its contents.
